These terms govern your use of the Sylume app. By installing or using Sylume you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Sylume is operated from the United Kingdom. Questions: [email protected].
1. What Sylume is
Sylume is a media player. It plays content from sources you add and configure yourself, such as your own playlists, provider logins, portals, media servers and add-ons. Sylume does not provide, host, distribute, recommend or sell any channels, streams, playlists or content of any kind. Sylume is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any content provider, playlist provider, media server or add-on service.
2. Your sources and your responsibility
You choose the sources you connect. You are responsible for them: for having the right to access the content they provide, for complying with their terms, and for using Sylume only for lawful purposes with content you are authorised to access. Sylume acts as a player for your sources and has no control over, or responsibility for, what they contain.
3. Your licence to use Sylume
During the beta, Sylume is free to use with a licence key we issue. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to install and use the app on your own devices. Licence keys are issued to you individually: do not share, publish or resell a key. We may suspend or revoke a key that is shared, resold or used in breach of these terms.
4. Open source software
Sylume includes open source components, including software licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 (FFmpeg libraries). Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licences give you. In particular, you may modify the LGPL licensed components for your own use and you may reverse engineer to debug such modifications. Details, notices and our source offer are at sylume.com/opensource.
5. Beta software
Sylume is pre-release software. Features may change, break or be removed between versions, and we may need to reset or migrate data between versions. We do not promise that the app or the activation service will always be available. Please do not rely on Sylume as your only way to access anything important to you.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Sylume to break the law. Do not interfere with, work around or attempt to defeat the licence activation system. This does not limit your open source rights under section 4, which apply to the open source components.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data Sylume handles, what stays on your device and what leaves it. It forms part of how we operate but is presented separately so it stays easy to read.
8. Disclaimers and liability
Sylume is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we exclude warranties and are not liable for losses arising from your use of the app, from your sources, or from content played through the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you use Sylume as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
9. Changes
We may update these terms as Sylume develops. If we change them materially, the app will ask you to review and accept the updated terms, and this page will show the date of the current version.
10. General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may rely on any mandatory consumer protections of, and bring proceedings in, your home nation.
